Understand the Requirements

Before you begin your application, ensure that you meet the necessary qualifications:

• A medical degree from a school recognized by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
• Passing scores on the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Steps 1 and 2.
• Clinical experience in the U.S. (recommended but not always required).
• Strong English communication skills, as patient care, depends on clear and effective interaction.

Obtain ECFMG Certification

The ECFMG certification is a prerequisite for international medical graduates applying for residency programs in the U.S. To obtain this certification:
